Paris with Elaine

Five days after the Reeds left, Jeff's Mom arrived.  Very unfortunately, Jeff's boss arrived the same day and Jeff had to leave that evening for Germany.  Elaine and I took advantage with a girl's trip to Paris!

We stayed at an awesome hotel recommended by Karen Brown.  We have been Karen Brown fans since our trip to France for Jeff's birthday a couple of years ago.  This one was very nice and only about two blocks from the Louvre.  Elaine spent the afternoon of our first day in the museum.  I think they had to kick her out when they were closing.

We had beautiful weather which allowed us to take the Seine dinner cruise again one evening and walk off all that great food as we took in the sites.  This is one of the wings of the Muse'e du Louvre.  The Louvre was the Royal Palace until 1682 when Louis XIV decided to move to Versailles.

The Muse'e d'Orsay is one of the many beautiful buildings in Paris and is a former railway station.  Elaine and I contemplated going in but found the lines were too long and decided to continue with our tour.

We had a great lunch in front of Notre Dame.  Elaine had never been to Paris, so we did our best to see as much as possible.  For the first time in Paris, we took a double-decker open bus tour.  This is such a fantastic way to see a large city and get your bearings.  I got some great pictures and even took a conference call.  This marks the most creative way that I have worked from "home" so far!

So, this trip to Paris was really memorable for many reasons.  Elaine really enjoyed it.  The weather was perfect.  We loved the hop on hop off bus and saw all the major sites.  The dinner cruise never disappoints.  However, this time I did learn that just like on planes coming and going from San Diego, you always need to sit on the driver's side.  This is where all the action is on the Seine.
