Our route from Trieste to Switzerland took us right past Lake Como. We decided to stop for lunch, but didn't have much time because our hotel in Switzerland required that we take a cable car up the mountain and we needed to arrive before the last car.
The pictures don't do this place justice. It was absolutely beautiful.
It is on our (very long) list of places to go back to.
We didn't do much more than look around at the scenery. The deep mountain lake reminded us of Montreaux
