Eiffel Tower

While in Normandy, we called an audible.  None of us were looking forward to the long drive home to Veldhoven and Scott had the urge to show Chase and Carly where he used to play soccer in the park at the Eiffel Tower - yes, really!  So, we booked a hotel in Paris for the same day.  Miraculously, we found a Rick Steves location that could accommodate us in two adjoining little suites, perfect!  Away we go!

This trip really was all about the Eiffel Tower.  I have visited Paris more than any other European city (even Amsterdam) now.  Lately, each time I go I seem to cross another To Do off my list.  I have never gone up in the tower before and this is certainly an experience for everyone to have once in their life.  For some very strange reason, we found the lines to be quite reasonable this time (who knew mid August would be slow?).

We were blessed with a beautiful day and got some great shots.  Yes, these are tiny, but you can't make out much even if I were to enlarge them.  For fun, you can see clockwise from 1:00....The Trocadero, The Louvre, Pont Alexander III, The Grand Palace, Sacre Coeur.  You can actually see most of these in one picture if you zoom in.  It is a spectacular view of a spectacular city!

It is hard to believe, but this picture wasn't staged at all.  Chase and Carly really do love each other.  Chase is a really protective and sweet big brother and Carly worships the ground he walks on.  It is so neat to see their personalities developing.

Actually, Scott didn't get to play in the grass but played soccer nearby on a dirt field.  He did, however, school the French boys in the sport of skateboarding on the plaza at the Trocadero.

Been There!  Done that!

And now we are headed home to Veldhoven to relax for a few days and explore the Dutch countryside.
