Kinderdijk was a favorite for Chase and Carly just like Beau. We had a really perfect day and also had time to go to the movie documentary, which was very interesting. Apparently the soil is very sponge-like and so when the water is pumped out by the windmills, the ground actually sinks.
We learned that all of the windmills are inhabited and there is a waiting list to work and live there. If you do live in one of these windmills you have to operate it on Saturdays. In this way they keep the historic site maintained and operational for visitors to enjoy.

It is really fun for me to see how Chase and Carly relate to their Mom and Dad and each other. Amazingly all things big and small are equal parts challenging and rewarding. I hope that they remember this trip or at least enjoy reviewing the pictures and stories for years to come.
