24 Hours in Morocco

We all decided that it would be cool to be able to say that we had been to Africa, so we went.  Morocco and Spain are only separated by 8 kilometers of ocean but they are worlds apart in so many ways.  Paula and I came close to making the trip in college but decided against it for safety reasons.  25 years later, Isabelle and I were thankful to have Spencer and Jeff there with us.

Honey, pack the camel, we're going to the beach!
Actually, 24 hours was the perfect amount of time for us.  We arrived in the afternoon and took a tour of Algiers and the surroundings from a great taxi driver.  We weren't sure if this was real or a scam, but our driver said he used to work in the garage for the Prince of Saudi Arabia.  During our tour we were allowed to go on the Prince's property and take a few pictures.

Apparently Jeff and the Prince have the same taste in cars.
This is an Aston Martin Lagonda!

This picture was taken where the Atlantic Ocean meets the Mediterranean Sea.  The water here is beautifully blue.

We had a traditional Moroccan dinner at our hotel poolside all by ourselves.  I think we had three people waiting on us and they had a DJ and female singer who wasn't half bad.  We thought we were back at Caliza Pool in Alys Beach!  As always, the architecture did inspire me.  They have the pointed arches and white washed buildings everywhere.  I liked the green glazed roof tiles as well since they seem to reflect the water to me.  This would fit well on Coronado, no?

This is actually Tarifa, Spain from the ferry

The Sunday market was the highlight of our trip, by far.  Unfortunately, I have no pictures.  The market takes up many square blocks of the town and looks like side by side garage stalls when closed.  We got there as they were opening, which made it slightly less of a zoo.  You can seriously get lost and we were always on the lookout for Isabelle since our waiter in Malaga fell in love with her.  We were afraid she would be added to some one's wife collection!  So, we scored some cool gifts.  Isabelle got a great table cloth and I bought some silk and velvet material to make sheers for our new lounge in Coronado.  It will be way cool and will inspire a new Moroccan beach house :)
